[1] For Athenian dedications to Eileithyia, goddess of childbirth, see IG II³ 4, 1151, with notes. This votive relief was discovered in 2008 and first published by D. Sourlas, in Kulte und Heiligtümer in Griechenland. Neue Funde und Forschungen, 2017, 168-69. It depicts three female herms, perhaps alluding to the wooden figures which Pausanias saw in the temple of Eileithyia at Athens (1.18.5). They may all depict Eilethyia, who could be conceived of as plural or singular (e.g. Hom. Il. 11.269-272, 19.119). The dedication is by a woman of Thespiai, where several other dedications to Eileithyia have been found (A. Schachter and F. Marchand, in Epigraphical Approaches to the Post-Classical Polis, 2013, 280-83).
