Chares son of Theochares of Angele, serving as sponsor (chorēgōn),^[1] was victorious, for Pandionis (and) Akamantis^[2] in the boys' competition, Satyros of Sikyon was pipe-player, Epikouros of Sikyon was director (edidaske),^[3] (5)Lykiskos (344/3) was archon.

[1] This marble rounded base is a choregic dedication commemorating a victory in dithyrambic competitions at the Thargelia (cf. IG II³ 4, 475 with notes). Chares son of Theochares of Angele is the prominent general of the mid-fourth century BC (Davies, APF 15292). [2] For the choral team of Akamantis/Pandionis, cf. IG IG II³ 4, 480. [3] This is the only Thargelia dedication in which pipe-player and director come from the same city.
