[1] On the introduction of the “competition-director” (agonothetes) in or shortly before 307/6 BC see IG II³ 4, 518, with notes. Timogenes of Athmonon is attested only here (= Stefanis, Dionysiakoi Technitai 2415). Similarly Moiragenes of Opous (= Stefanis 1732). On directors from Opous see D. Summa, in L’argent dans les concours du monde grec (2010), 107-25. This is either an Attic pierre errante, or a copy of an Attic monument erected in Thebes in honour of a Theban or Opuntian victor.
