[1] This fragment of a triangular base is a Roman-period choregic dedication (cf. IG II³ 4, 558 with notes). The tribe of the victorious chorus would have been named in l. 1. A date in the first two centuries AD is indicated by the letter forms, but the text uses archaising formulae that imitate fourth-century BC choregic dedications like IG II³ 4, 460 (on archaising inscriptions in the Roman period, see S. Aleshire in XI Congresso Internazionale di Epigrafia, 1999, p. 153-61 and AIUK 4.2 (BM, Decrees of Council and Assembly) no. 17 with notes). The base probably supported a tripod.
