[1] This group of eleven men formed an association, perhaps, like IG II³ 4, 634, a group of eranistai. It might indeed be the same group: both inscriptions were found in southern Attica, list eleven men, and have three names in common (Kadous, Kallias, Tibeios; these are however common slave names, cf. S. Lauffer, Die Bergwerkssklaven von Laureion, 1979, 129). In any case the findspot and the onomastics (see n. 2) suggest that this dedication to an unknown deity was made by a group of miners (see Lauffer; I. Arnaoutoglou in O.M. van Nijf and R. Alston, eds., Political Culture in the Greek City after the Classical Age, 2011, 40-41; cf. IG II² 10051). [2] The names are characteristic of central and northern Asia Minor (Kadous, Tibeios, Mandion) and/or are names that could be used for slaves (Kallias, Syros) (see Curbera in IG II³ 4; Lauffer, 128-30; I. Arnaoutoglou, Thusias eneka kai suonousias. Private religious associations in Hellenistic Athens, 2003, 83; cf. D. Lewis, Studia Źródłoznawcze. U Schyłku Starożytności, 2018, 169-99). There is a socket in the top of the base for insertion of a votive.
