The prytany of -tis dedicated (this) to the hero in the archonship of Theophilos (348/7 or 226/5) having been crowned by the Council and the People for its excellence (aretēs) (5) and justice (dikaiosunēs).^[1]

[1] This is a dedication by the prytany of an unknown tribe (probably, on grounds of spacing, Aiantis or Leontis) to its tribal hero, after it had won the competition for the best prytany in its year in office, cf. IG I³ 515. As Tracy observes, the lettering is crude and this may well be a third-century prytany dedication, made privately, at a time when the genre had generally ceased to be current. Cf. IG II³ 4, 90, IG II³ 4, 122, IG II³ 4, 220. The date 348/7 is unlikely, since Pandionis is known to have been the victorious prytany in that year (IG II³ 4, 29). Cf. AIO Papers 9, sects. 3-4 (SEG 68.81).
