Dedication to Asklepios at Zea by Eleutherion

To good fortune, Eleutherion, having been treated (therapeutheis), dedicated this relief as a votive (euchēn).^[1]

[1] This plaque is roughly square and has a square depression in the centre containing a relief depiction of male genitals. The inscription wraps around the top and right-hand sides of this depression. On such ‘anatomical votives’, see AIUK 4.5, pp. 69; J. Draycott and E.-J. Graham, Bodies of Evidence (2017). The text could be read as a dedication to the goddess Good Fortune (cf. IG II³ 4, 983-993), but it was found in the remains of the Asklepieion at Zea in Piraeus under the old Tsocha theatre, so is better understood as a dedication to Asklepios (B. Forsén, ZPE 87, 1991, 173-175 = SEG 41.170). On this sanctuary, see IG I³ 1081.
