[1] Textual note: The inscription was recorded in the 15th century by Cyriacus of Ancona and is now lost (E. W. Bodnar, Cyriacus of Ancona and Athens, 1960, 41). Eds. following Dittenberger have reconstructed Cyriacus’ ΓΕΟΡΓΕΩΕΣΥΩΝ in l. 1 as [οἵ]⟨δε⟩ ὀργεῶ⟨ν⟩ες ⟨τ⟩ῶν [θεῶν], “These are orgeones of the [gods]”, but this is an implausibly vague description for a group of this kind (SDL). K. Clinton, Grammateion 14, 2025, 55-57 proposes [οἵ]<δ>ε ὀργεῶ<ν>ες <τ>ο<ῦ> [ἱεροῦ], "these are orgeones of the [sanctuary]."

Cyriacus recorded the inscription in Megara However, I. Arnaoutoglou, Thusias eneka kai sunousias. Private religious associations in Hellenistic Athens, 2003, 31 n. 1 suspected and S. G. Byrne in A. P. Matthaiou and I. Polinskaya eds., Μικρὸς Ἱερομνήμων. Μελέτες εἰς μνήμην M. H. Jameson, 2008, 120-21, confirmed that it probably originated in Eleusis, and that Phokiades son of Teisias (l. 4) was a relation of Teisias son of Phokiades of Eleusis, at IG II³ 1, 1016, l. 70. On orgeones see LSCG 45 n. 1 and cf. IG II³ 4, 644. Clinton proposes that it was linked to the sanctuary of Asklepios at Eleusis, on which see IG II³ 4, 891 with notes. It is not clear whether this was a dedication or a list publicising confirmed members of the group, e.g. following a scrutiny (cf. οἵδε φράτερες, “These are phrateres”, IG II² 2344 = Lambert, Phratries T18, with note, p. 343).
