Euxitheos son of Philoxenides of Kephisia, having been elected by the People for a second time as general in charge of the coastal countryside, dedicated (this) to Demeter and Kore.^[1]

[1] This inscription is carved into the outside face of the fortification wall, about two meters above ground level, immediately to the right of the east gate. A large rectangular niche was cut above it for a relief. Below it, there is another niche and the base of a freestanding statue. The date derives from two unpublished inscriptions which show that Euxitheos was general for the first time in 188/7 and for the third time in 184/3 BC (Rhamnous inv. 2110, 890 +1263). For his fourth generalship see IG II³ 4, 308. For the generalship of the coastal countryside, cf. I Rham. 3, with notes. Emergency rebuilding of the east gate took place sometime after 229 BC (the date of I Rhamn. 25, which was used as building material in the process) but before the date of our inscription (this may have been to repair damage caused by the coastal raids of Philip V in 201/0 BC, cf.
