[1] This is a prytany decree of the post-Sullan type, in which the Council permits the prytany and the aeisitoi ("those with perpetual dining rights," various magistrates and priests entitled ex officio to dine in the tholos every night) to make a dedication honouring their treasurer for successful completion of sacrifices on behalf of the community (see SEG 28.95 with notes). Prosopography suggests a date in the 40s BC.

Around 150 AD, a prytany list of Hippothontis (SEG 28.167) was inscribed on the reverse. New prytany lists were also inscribed on the reverses of four other post-Sullan prytany inscriptions (Agora XV 278, SEG 28.95, 28.164, 32.137) between 148/9 and 159/60 AD. In all cases, the new list belongs to the same tribe as the earlier decree. This kind of attentive reuse of old inscriptions is a common feature of Athenian epigraphy in the second and third centuries AD (cf. C. Lasagni in E. Culasso Gastaldi, La seconda vita delle iscrizioni, 2020, 291–334). There is a large graffito of the letter Π in the centre of the upper part of the catalogue.
