[1] This marble base, first published by P. Bougia in Arch. Delt. 60, 2005, B 1 [2013], 83-85, is a fifth-century choregic dedication commemorating a victory in dithyrambic competitions at the Thargelia (cf. IG II³ 4, 475 with notes). On top, there is the base of an Ionic column with holes for the attachment of a tripod. On the pairing of tribes for choral teams at the Thargelia, cf. IG I³ 964 with notes. The inscription was found together with a small fragment of a sixth-century altar of Apollo Pythios (IG I³ 948) and a fourth-century Thargelia dedication (IG II³ 4, 477). These finds support the identification of the findspot as the Pythion (cf. IG II³ 4, 475 with notes).
