Alliance with Karystos, 357/6 BC

decree the [prytany] secretary[4] shall inscribe on the
acropolis; the treasurer shall give the money for the stele
from the People's fund for expenditure on decrees;
(5) [and to send ambassadors to Karystos to] receive the oaths
[from the Karystians; and there shall swear] for them the generals [and the taxiarchs and the] Council. Praise the People
of Karystos and the ambassadors (presbeis) of the Karystians and their
representative (sunedron), and invite them to hospitality (xenia) in the city hall (prutaneion) (10) tomorrow.[1] Praise also Menon the general
and the ambassadors (presbeis) sent to Karystos, and invite them
to dinner (deipnon) in the city hall (prutaneion) tomorrow; and the treasurer
of the People shall pay them travel expenses of 20 drachmas from the
People's fund for expenditure on decrees; and the treasurer
(15) of the People shall pay also to the ambassadors (presbesi) who have served on
embassies to Eretria and Chalkis and Hestiaia 20 drachmas
each. And to those who were ambassadors regarding the alliance
the treasurer of the People shall pay 10 drachmas each.
These swore: the Council of the archonship of Agathokles (357/6); the
(20) generals, [[Chabrias of Aixone]][2], Cha[brias of Aixone or res of Angele], Iphikrates of Rhamnous,
Menon of Potamos, Philochares of Rhamnous,
Exekestides of Thorikos, Alkimachos of Anagyrous,
Diokles of Alopeke.[3]
