[1] On the introduction of the “competition-director” (agonothetes) in or shortly before 307/6 BC see IG II³ 4, 518, with notes. IG II³ 4, 533 apparently commemorated the same competition-directorship. Theophanes’ son, Dioskourides, was proxenos of Oropos (I Orop. 108, l. 2) and dedicated a statue of his father to Dionysos, IG II² 3851. Sokrates (4) is also attested as pipe-player in 255/4 or 252/1 BC (CID IV p. 24 no. 48; Stefanis, Dion. technitai no. 2334).
