Kallias son of Telokles was gymnasiarch (egumnasiarche), Pandionis was victorious.^[1]

[1] This fragment (probably of a base) is a late fifth-century dedication made by a victorious gymnasiarch (in general on dedications by gymnasiarchs in Classical Athens see IG II³ 4, 426, with notes). The stone was apparently removed from Athens to Thebes where it was reused in a Byzantine building. It is not clear when and why this was done (for speculation on this, see the notes to IG I³ 969(b), which appears to be a second copy of this inscription). Kallias son of Telokles is known also from a dedication to Ammon (IG II² 1642 = SEG 21.562, l. 9), and was among those accused by Diokleides of mutilating the Herms on the eve of the sailing of the Sicilian expedition in 415 BC (IG I³ 93; Thuc. 6.27; Ar. Lys. 1093–4). He was cleared, however, of all charges following the deposition of his brother-in-law, Andokides (Andok. 1.42, 47, 50, 68; cf. Davies, APF 7840).
