[1] This is part of a stele with honours for a herald of the Council and the People. The editors of SEG 21, followed by Agora XV, identified the honourers as a prytany (cf. Agora XV 264 with notes) and dated it to the first century BC or first century AD, without discussion. However, a crown from "fellow officials" (synarchontes) is unparalleled in post-Sullan prytany decrees (they appear as honorands in Agora XV 270 of 53/2 BC).
