[1] This inscription was donated to the British Museum by a Royal Navy officer, Alexander Robinson, in 1850. The name is inscribed on the upper part of a stele decorated with an elaborate palmette acroterion with two rosettes carved on the shaft below. Other names may have been inscribed on the lost part of the stele beneath the rosettes. Both father and son have rare names at Athens, although another Eualkides from Kerameis made a dedication as cavalryman on Salamis ca. 320 BC and was perhaps a member of the same family (IG II³ 4, 323, l. 24). Kerameis was a deme to the northwest of the city of Athens that stretched along a road lined with pottery workshops.
