IG II³ 4 807 Date: ca. 83/4-101/2 AD

To Asklepios and Hygieia, Demetrios son of Antiochos of Sphettos, having been temple attendant (zakoreusas), (5) having paved the ground of the gateway (propulaiou), dedicated this, uninscribed space under the management (epimelēteontos) of Coponius Maximus, the temple attendant being – (10) son of Dio- of - ^[1]

[1] This plaque was dedicated in the Asklepieion on the south slope of the Acropolis (on which, see IG II³ 4, 665). It commemorates paving work undertaken in the sanctuary by Demeterios as temple attendant (zakoros, cf. IG II³ 4, 794). Demetrios also dedicated IG II³ 4, 809 in connection with related paving work. He was probably a son of the hoplite general and gymnasiarch Antiochos of Sphettos (cf. IG II³ 4, 408; S. Aleshire, Asklepios 103). Titus Coponius Maximus was manager of the city between ca. 83/4 and 101/2 (see IG II² 1072 with notes), which provides the date range of this inscription.
