Honours for the archon Euthios

Gods.
In the archonship of Nikias (282/1), in the seventh
prytany, of OineisVIII, for which Theophilos son of Theodotos
of AcharnaiVIII was secretary. On the ninth of
(5) Gamelion, the twenty-third
of the prytany. Assembly. Of the presiding committee
Oinokrates son of Oinobios of Eleusis was putting to the vote
and his fellow presiding committee members. The
People decided. Agyrrhios son of Kallimedon
(10) of Kollytos proposed: since Euthios when he was
archon (archōn genomenos) (283/2) performed the sacrifices to the
gods according to tradition and managed
the procession for Dionysos[1] with love of honour (philotimōs) and
did everything else concerning his office
(15) justly and and in obedience to the laws and
decrees of the Council and People,
and because of this previously the People
praised him and crowned him in
the Assembly in the theatre of Dionysos (en Dionusou);[2] so that
(20) it might be apparent to everyone that the People, now
and in the future, will honour those
serving in their offices justly and according
to the laws, for good fortune, the People
shall decide: to praise Euthios son of Antiphon
(25) of Teithras for the love of honour (philotimias) and good will
which he continues to have for the People,
and to crown him with a gold crown
according to the law; and he shall be able
to obtain other benefits from the People when
(30) he is judged to be worthy, when the Piraeus
and the city are united (en tōi autōi);[3] and to praise
his assistants (paredrous)[4] Meidogenes
son of Meidon of AthmononIX, Sokrates son
of Sodamos of PaianiaV for their justice
(35) and love of honour (philotimias), and to crown each
of them with a gold crown according to the law;
and the prytany secretary shall inscribe
this decree on a stone
stele and stand it in front of the synedrion;[5] (40) and for inscribing the stele
the board of administrators (tous epi tēi dioikēsei) shall allocate 10
drachmas.
