[1] This boundary marker was found just south of the Roman Agora and east of the City Eleusinion (A. Choremi, Arch. Delt. 45, 1990 [1995], B, 21). J. Binder in SEG 48.169 and C. L. Lawton, in M. M. Miles, Autopsy in Athens, 2015, 25-36 propose that there was a shrine of Asklepios in the City Eleusinion, since Asklepios is known to have had close links with this structure (see IG II³ 4, 810 with notes) and several other inscriptions relating to Asklepios and Hygieia have been found in this area: three inscribed dedications (IG II³ 4, 869-870, 874), at least fifteen uninscribed relief dedications to Asklepios and Hygieia (Agora XXXVIII 16-30, 138), and four fragmentary inscriptions that might be associated with Asklepios and Hygieia (IG I³ 414 , IG II³ 4, 660, 872, and 1119). At least forty-two statuettes of Asklepios, mostly from the Roman period, have also been found in the Agora, but these probably derive from workshops and domestic settings (B. Martens, Hesperia 87, 2018, 545–610).
