[1] This is a prytany decree of the post-Sullan type, in which the Council permits the prytany and the aeisitoi ("those with perpetual dining rights," various magistrates and priests entitled ex officio to dine in the tholos every night) to make a dedication honouring their treasurer for successful completion of sacrifices on behalf of the community (see SEG 28.95 with notes). Most of what survives is from the catalogue of members of the prytany. Kritoboulos might be the herald (cf. Agora XV 286, ll. 1–2) or the proposer of the decree (cf. SEG 28.95, l. 24).

The inscription was acquired in Athens before 1894 by Ion Casian Suruceanu for his collection in Chișinău (V. V. Latyschev, BCH 18, 1894, 334). Following his death, it remained in storage until taken, with most of his collection, to the Kherson Historical Museum during the revolution of 1917–1919 (A. V. Kostenko, Tyragetia 10, 2016, 345–49). Most of this collection was seized by Russian forces in October 2022; its current whereabouts is unknown (Human Rights Watch, 20 December 2022).
