[1] Textual note Woodhead notes that the crown is of the "radiate" type, resembling a schematic sunflower. Takeuchi notes that it is closely similar to the crown on IG II³ 1, 1147, cf. also IG II³ 1, 1150, IG II³ 1, 1426.

The main interest of this inscription lies in its date and the identity of the deme responsible for it. There are only three demes which are known to have inscribed decrees in the 3rd century BC: the garrison demes Eleusis (see I Eleusis 68) and Rhamnous (see I Rhamnous 182); and Halai Aixonides (see SEG 38.124, SEG 49.141). None of these demes was in the city, but IG II³ 4, 223, a dedication to Aphrodite by demesmen of Halai Aixonides, was found in the city. Our inscription was cut by Tracy's "Cutter of Agora I 3238 and 4169", whose dated work spans the years 286/5-238/7 (for addenda see Tracy, Horos 26-31, 2014-2019, 43-44). This cutter also cut the decree of Halai Aixonides from Halai, SEG 38.124, so it is possible that he was working for that deme when he cut our inscription also. He was, however, "the most prolific cutter of his era" (Tracy) and might also have been commissioned by another deme to cut this decree. On demes in general see RO 46.
