Honours for the prytany and prytany treasurer of Pandionis
Agora XV 293 Date: ca. 20-15 BC
Apolexis son of Philokrates of Oion proposed it.[1] Since,
having made an approach to the Council, the prytaneis
of Pandionis in the archonship of Demeas of Azenia
declare that the treasurer of the prytaneis,
(5)whom they chose, Philon son of Hegelochos of Paiania,
having undertaken ⟦ . . . ⟧«the treasurership» for the second time, has
made the sacrifices to the gods, which were traditional, on behalf of the
prytaneis and the Council and the People and children
[and] women and friends and allies, and that, having received good omens
(10)in all the victims, he conducted himself magnificently (megalomerōs) [and] worthily of his goodwill towards the prytaneis, and for this the prytaneis
call on the Council to make the fitting
forethought, for good fortune, the Council shall decide to praise
the prytaneis of Pandionis for their piety (eusebeia) towards the gods
(15)and also to praise Philon son of Hegelochos of Paiania, for having
submitted to their treasurership for the second time and for having
paid for the sacrifices to the gods, to whom it was traditional (to do so), and to crown
him with a foliage crown, with which it is traditional to crown
good men, so that, when these things are completed, it may be apparent that
(20)the Council takes the appropriate forethought.
