[1] The "Dionysion" at Eleusis is known from I Eleusis 70, l. 33 (place of erection of decree, though it is unclear whether this designated a different location from "the theatre of the Eleusinians" where the related I Eleusis 71 was to be erected). The precise circumstances of this dedication are unclear, but most likely the individuals named had contributed financially in some way to the theatre/sanctuary of Dionysos at Eleusis (e.g. building works?). Of the four men listed Moirokles son of Euthydemos was from a family prominent at city level and in the affairs of the deme. A Moirokles son of Kallippos of Eleusis is also attested at this period (IG II² 6043, a cousin?) and it is not always clear in our sources which Moirokles is referred to. For the city politician, see IG II³ 1, 414 l. 6; and perhaps IG II³ 4, 33 ll. 109-110. The Moirokles active in deme affairs (son of Euthydemos) leased the quarry at Eleusis that belonged to the sanctuary of Herakles (I Eleusis 85), proposed the decree of Eleusis and soldiers honouring Xenokles of Sphettos (I Eleusis 95) and contributed to this dedication to Dionysos at Eleusis. Timokedes son of Timasias was also member of a prominent deme family in which the names Timokedes and Gnathis occur (IG I³ 970, IG II³ 4, 246, I Eleusis 70, I Eleusis 80, cf. Humphreys, 1124-25). Antiphanes son of Euxenides was perhaps the Antiphanes who was priest of Herakles in Akris in 332/1 BC, I Eleusis 85, l. 47, cf. Humphreys, 1119. Antitheos son of Kallikles is not identifiable.
